love is not everybody's property. leave humans aside, this notion is bestowed on the animals and all creatures of this planet. this planet is their home. home means a residence where the humans, animals or other creatures reside to protect themselves from the seasons and from enemies also. for humans, it is a four walled house where he alongwith his family stay on for the whole life. life in his home gives him dividends, which he utilises for the enhancement of his living.
1=3=08/ just now i switched off my TV after viewing the 'lil champs' finale. the first to come was Anamika Chaudhary from Assam, second Rohanpreet Singh from Ludhiana and third Tanmay Chaturvidi from Lucknow. it was an interesting musical programme, whic only i see friday and saturday and today it ended after declaring the results. the results were almost what i thought after seeing so many episodes. there may be controversies, but the prog like this shd be carried on. no doubt it is the rule of nature that everybody cannot become HERO, but whether small children or adults shd be given due encouragement to come in the frontline of the successful candidates. it is really a hard, energy-sucking competition, but the humans are made up for this. that is why the academic examinations are conducted to bring forward the cream students of the society. nobody wants to see a big hollow. so the universities and other educational/social organisations are doing great job of educating the future citizens of I
2=3=08 home may be a self introduction or reg the place u live and your activities there. here is your family, your joys, your sufferings, your grievances, here are small happiness to the bigger ones. a place u feel content, , u feel disgusted,u feel bored, u sip tea, become thoughtful, share intimacy with your wife, love with your children, respect to the elders, a place of your jpys and agonies. the most agonised moment may be the 'bidai' of your daughter, happy when u bring daughter-in-law, sad when your son leaves u, more sad when the old age becomes apparent and in that u try to find out the rays of happiness. the four walls tell the story of your childhood, youth and the old age, not only u but also of them whom u loved throughout your life. that is why every one cry for a happy home. for some it is a reality and for some it is a distant dream.
04=03=08= photography's home: photographing children: taking photographs of children is an exciting job, than adults. they are less aware of the presence of camera, so it may be said that they are easily captured, that too in very natural poses that may be out of your imagination. however there is other side also, because a child cannot sit idle or in pose, u have to move around a lot co capture the mood of the little one.
be at the eyelevel of the child, not yours. it is said that the world looks different from a child's eyes. better sit on the ground and as he plays, take different shots, make different angles, change your positions, from low anglr and also from high angles. u will be stunned to see the results.
it may be a position that when a childs comes to know of camera angled at him, he my become nervous. let him feel relaxed and if necessary, call some of his friends or pets to fell himself at home. never ask the child to look into the camera, not to make him more averse to camera. let the child feel at his ease and who knows u may get that winning shot.
happy children look better in sunlight and different types of colourful environment. for soft effects, u may use window lighting or soft light of a verandah. next important thing is to keep patience=it pays. otherwise once the mood of the child is gone, your hot temper can never bring it back. and now it ie your turn to sit nervously.
in photography of children, it is said, do what the child says, u cannot make him to obey u. so to make the most difficult easier, is to make friends with the child, either in home or in studio.
HISTOGRAM: in photography, one of the most important tool and generally ignored due to lethargy on the part pf the serious photographer is the HISTOGRAM. while taking photograph, exposure is one mor important that differentiates good photos from the poor ones. a photograph has all its elements if illuminated properly. u can use the histogram to correct the exposure. although, many cameras show a histogram on their LCDs after u take a picture. however, it ie better to view the histogram in a photoediting tool and make corrections there.
the right side of the histogram shows the lightest portion or or 'highlights' of the image.. the middle section shows the middle tones and the left side shows the darker portion or 'shadow area' the vertical axis shows the pixels in each level. an underexposed image has many pixels concentrated in the shashows. (as in the higher ISO film0 . move theslides to improve the distribution of brightness levels. alternatively, use the auto button to let photoshop make the adjustments. further, for example, u can also adjust histogram of channels i.e. red, blue and green if their distribution appears improper. for example, adjust the histogram for the blue channel if the sky looks dull in your photograph.
HOW I MADE PHOTOGRAPH FOR PHOTO EXHIBITION== Govt if India Photo Division is organising a photo exhibition on all india basis with cash prizes and certificates almost every year.in June, perhaps. it was few years back, the theme i forgot. the idea came to my mind to make a picture, 'the nurse seeing the drops of syringe coming out of the needle'.before injecting the medicine to the patient. i asked 2-3 sisters but they were not agreeing to be photographed and their pic to be sent somewhere, in the exhibition.
my daughter was ready to do the job. so i asked one of the sisters to give her upper coat and headgear(name i forgot) of white cloth tucked near the 'juda' of hairs on the head. now came the question of lighting, freezing the drop. in ordinary way u cannot show the drops coming out of syringe in the camera. the only alternative was the flash = a very imp instrument to freeze the moment. so i arranged two flash guns, one with long cord and other with a slave unit. background was white wall few feet away from the subject so it can record darker and the drops shd reach near her face or chin to show clearly because she wore white coat which wud not show the syringe prominently. i put the cord flash to my right 5 feet away from her face held by my wife. and the slave flash some 8 feet away to left and 7 feet above to give fill in light because, i wanted her half face lit and if syringe is moved slightly, it can show in shaded area of the face. i kept the aperture at f8 according to flashguns. i asked my daughter to do some trials before i clicked the camera. i took 2-3 shots and in one shot the drops came out nicely in the air and on needle tip. the pic was in b&w. i sent the pic in 10x12 inch size and it was selected to be exhibited and for that i got an invitation. the President of India inaugurated the exhibition and the pic was well commended.

BACKGROUND FOR COLOUR PHOTOGRAPHY: in colour photography, background shd be given somewhat more consideration than what is done in b&w photography. backgrounds having large masses of one bright colour shd be avoided, because they have poor taste artistically. and are prone to overpower the colour likeness of the subject.
generally an effective background may be preferred of the cloudy effect. it give a look as if u are portrayed outside somewhere under the sky. again somewhat cool coloured backgrounds are suitable for most subjects, in which include lights preferably be for low key portraits. the warm colour backgrounds shd be avoided, otherwise the colours do not contrast sufficiently with those of the sitter's face.
the notion that the warm colours project and the cool one recede is to be taken into view when selecting colour combinations for the highest third dinensional ettect beteen the subject and the b'ground.
one more important b'ground colour is the light grey colour in long cloth say 12 to 16ft, which i used for many years and to give different effect of colour backgrounds, the same can be changed easily with coloured filters on the snoots or spots to change b'ground effects according to the personality of the sitter. although there are different coloured b'grounds available in the market, because this isthe commercial world and for changing the mindset of the subject, sometimes u will have to go according to his choice - no artistry and no aesthetics please.

D-PHOTOGRAPHY IN VILLAGES.
=====================
WITH the introduction of digital cameras, new doors are opened for all types of photographers around, including top commercials to a village commercial photographer, who earns his meagre living with the chips than films now and hopes to shoot thousands of photographs without spending a single rupee extra. it has become so strange that the vill.photographers are depending not on DSLRs but on compacts for marriages or other imp functions. in towns i may be criticised for using compacts for commercial work, but in villages, there are less rivals and they also hang on like their counterparts.
Compacts are taking good photographs and for them, it is not difficult to get 4x6 ot 5x7 prints from a good colour lab. they are their pucca customers so they understand their problem of using compacts. they give best of the prints, so the village photographer's work goes on.
Strange enough, the digital companies are now moving towards villages - their easy and bigger market, and yet to be explored.
